Supporting Colorado Therapists Working with Neurodivergent Clients & Couples
NEURODIVERGENT-AFFIRMING CONSULTATION
FOR THERAPISTS
When Your Clinical Training Didn't Prepare You for This Client
When traditional approaches aren't landing with your neurodivergent clients
You know that feeling when you're sitting across from a neurodivergent client or couple, and everything you learned in grad school just... doesn't work?
When the interventions that help neurotypical clients seem to create more resistance? When your gut says there's something deeper happening with communication patterns, sensory needs, or nervous system responses—but you're not quite sure how to work with it?
Yeah. I've been there too.
This isn't about you not being a good therapist. It's about a system that taught us to see diversity as disorder—and then didn't give us the tools to do better.
What We'll Explore
Reframing "Problem Behaviors" — How to see your client's responses as adaptive rather than dysfunctional, and why this shift changes everything
Nervous System & Sensory Processing — Understanding regulation patterns and why traditional "calming techniques" often backfire
Communication Differences — Why direct communication isn't rude, why eye contact isn't the measure of engagement, and how to honor different styles in session
Mixed-Neurotype Couples — Understanding how neurodivergent/neurotypical partnerships get stuck and how to help them move forward
Trauma & Neurodivergence — Recognizing how ADHD, autism, and complex PTSD intersect, and why traditional trauma work sometimes misses the mark
Your Own Countertransference — Examining reactions that might reveal internalized ableism (we all have work to do here)

Who This Is For
How It Works
Consultation isn't about me telling you what to do. You're the expert on your client. I just happen to be really nerdy about neurodivergence, nervous systems, and how to translate between neurotypes without pathologizing anyone in the process.

Brief description of your consultation needs
Whether you're interested in a single session or ongoing support
I'll respond within 24-48 hours to schedule. You can optionally send case background before our session to maximize our time together. All client information remains confidential and HIPAA-compliant.
The Truth
It's not about learning new techniques. It's about fundamentally shifting how you see your clients—from broken people who need fixing to brilliant humans whose nervous systems are responding perfectly to the world they've had to navigate.
Once you see it, you can't unsee it.
You're allowed to seek consultation so you can offer better care. That's not weakness. That's wisdom.
FAQs
Have Questions?
Questions?
Do I need a confirmed diagnosis for my client?
Nope. We can work with "I'm noticing these patterns..." and explore together.
I'm new to this—is consultation still appropriate?
Absolutely. You don't need to be an expert—just curious and willing to expand your lens.
Can I consult about multiple clients?
Yes. Single sessions work for specific cases; the 3-session package is perfect for ongoing learning.
Will you tell me what to do?
No. I'll help you see patterns you might have missed and offer frameworks for understanding what's happening. You decide how to apply it in your therapeutic relationship.
